Hogwarts Legacy features dozens of intriguing side quests that reward players for exploring the vast magical landscape beyond the castle walls. Among these quests, "The Hippogriff Marks The Spot" sends players on a treasure hunt across the Poidsear Coast using a hand-drawn parchment map. Completing this quest provides valuable gear appearances and helps completionists check off another mystery in their journal.
How to Find and Start the Quest
To begin this side quest, players must head to the Poidsear Coast region, specifically near Henrietta's Hideaway located on the Manor Cape peninsula. Inside a bandit camp along the coast, players can find a rolled-up parchment sitting on a wooden table. Picking up this item automatically updates your quest log with a map depicting a Hippogriff statue and specific spell instructions.
Navigating to Henrietta's Hideaway
The map leads directly to Henrietta's Hideaway, a subterranean dungeon entrance located beneath the ruins nearby. After clearing out any Ashwinders or Poachers patrolling the exterior, head down the stairs near the cliffside to enter the hideaway. Be sure to prepare your combat spells, as dark wizards and dangerous traps await inside the ruin's halls.
Solving the Statue Puzzle
Inside the main chamber of Henrietta's Hideaway, you will encounter a large statue of a Hippogriff surrounded by several braziers. To solve the puzzle indicated on your parchment, you must light specific braziers while extinguishing others using Incendio and Glacius. Match the pattern drawn on your quest map by keeping only four specific fire basins lit around the statue.
Unlocking the Secret Chamber and Rewards
Once the correct combination of lit and unlit braziers is set, a secret wall behind the Hippogriff statue will rotate open. Inside this hidden alcove, players will find a chest containing a rare gear piece along with experience points. Successfully opening this chest automatically completes the quest and adds another unique treasure to your collection.
